Medical Services Plan of BC

Learn about Medical Services Plan coverage for you, your spouse and/or eligible dependant(s).

The Medical Services Plan (MSP) covers the cost of medically required services provided by physicians and some health care practitioners. If you are a BC resident, you, your spouse and your eligible dependants must be enrolled in MSP.

You can enrol in MSP through BC's College Pension Plan. If you choose this option, MSP premiums will be deducted from your pension. If you do not enrol in MSP through the plan, you will need to contact Health Insurance BC to apply for coverage and pay monthly MSP premiums directly to it.

The College Pension Plan does not administer claims for your basic provincial health care or subsidize your monthly premiums.

The MSP premium assistance program offers reduced rates to BC residents with financial need. Contact Health Insurance BC to see if you are eligible and learn how to apply.
