Information about the privacy breach.

A privacy breach at BC Pension Corporation involved the personal information of College Pension Plan members with service in the plan from 1982 to 1997. We sent a letter on this matter to impacted members in March.

The breach was discovered in October 2018 following a September 2018 office move. Further to the letter we sent and following recent consultations with the BC Office of Information and Privacy Commissioner, it is recommended you review your credit activity since September 2018. If you are a plan member with service in the plan from 1982 to 1997 and have not yet received a letter, please email penc.privacy@pensionsbc.ca with the subject line “Microfiche breach.”

If you are concerned about identity theft or financial risk, there are steps you can take to protect yourself from potential harm. A free credit report is available so you can monitor activity related to your credit score. Information on ordering your free credit report can be found at Canada.ca

We take the protection of your personal information very seriously and apologize for any inconvenience or concern this situation may cause you. We will continue to work with the BC Office of Information and Privacy Commissioner to ensure we follow best practices.
